Taproom Keyholder

Job Summary

Responsible for completing opening and closing procedures, performing operational duties of assigned role (server, bartender, etc…), and acting as the main point of contact for employees and customers when the manager is not present. Duties include performing pre-shift meetings, covering or delegating breaks, training new hires and completing night-end POS reporting and securing the facility upon closing.  The Keyholder reports to the Assistant Taproom Manager and Taproom and Programming Manager. This position earns anywhere from $11.27/hour (plus tips) while working in the taproom not as a Keyholder, $12.75 (plus tips) while working on the floor as a Keyholder, and $16.20 (no tips) while doing other non-Keyholder, non-tipped work such as job training.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Complete bar opening and closing procedures correctly and independently  
  • Reconcile financial POS reports when closing 
  • Maintain strong knowledge of current POS (Toast) to ensure accurate reporting 
  • Ensure the brewery is locked and secure upon night crew leaving for the night 
  • Ensure all hourly employees receive their break during their shift and find coverage for their absence 
  • Able to multitask to support various roles while monitoring the operations on the floor 
  • Maintain knowledge of all training materials and follow all procedures when training new hires 
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge and skill in all taproom jobs and serve in them as needed 
  • Acquire and maintain intimate knowledge of all our beers and food options 
  • Maintains and promotes a clean and safe working environment 
  • Report to work on time and with ample physical and mental energy to genuinely and enthusiastically interpret Half Acre hospitality systems 
  • Greet and welcome our guests warmly and promptly, while also clearly communicating what they can expect from their experience in the taproom 
  • Able to skillfully and clearly communicate with the customer to satisfy their expectations 
  • Take initiative to go above and beyond for the customer 
  • Maintain positive communication and coordination with the Kitchen staff 
  • Represent Half Acre in a positive way and avoid situations and behaviors that are not reflective of Half Acre’s culture

  • Understand the financial responsibility of Hospitality to ensure high sales and accurate reporting 
  • Understand the importance of Hospitality's role within Half Acre to ensure the financial health of the entire company 
  • Be a strong leader who can confidently train new hires, manage entire teams, and represent the company to customers 

Beneficial Experience

  • High School Diploma / GED 
  • Previous experience of at least 2-4 years in the craft beer and/or bar/restaurant industries 
  • Previous hospitality management preferred but not required 
  • Nights and weekend availability required 

Physical Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old 
  • Applicants must be able to lift 35-pound cases and maneuver 165-pound kegs

Paid Sick Time:
