Maintenance Technician
Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician at Half Acre Beer Co. is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving all company equipment and facilities, with a priority on brewery production operations. This position is a member of the Maintenance Team and reports to the Senior Maintenance and Facilities Manager. The hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Commitment to company safety program and ensuring company safety standards set by Half Acre and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), as well as established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Actively participate in regular safety meetings and audits
- Installs and maintains belts, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, bushings, sprockets, sheaves, and all general mechanical equipment
- Performs equipment lubrication
- Performs precision alignment of pumps, motors, gearboxes, sprockets, and sheaves
- Installs and maintains electric motors, control cabinets, motor starters, drives, wiring, sensors, switches, and general electric/electronic devices
- Troubleshoots and maintains hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Disassembles and reassembles machinery. Rebuilds gearboxes and pumps. Replaces pump seals
- Uses CMMS to check work order assignment and report completed work
- Completes preventive maintenance routines as assigned and ensures accurate information is documented
- Identifies root cause of problems and then proposes and implements solutions
- Actively contributes to the achievement of company goals and established maintenance KPI’s
- Keeps work area clean and organized
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills
- Must be 21+ years old
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and organizational skills
- Experience with maintenance and inventory software
- Knowledge of plumbing systems; water, compressed gases, etc.
- Brewing or high-speed carbonated beverage packaging experience strongly preferred
- Experience with troubleshooting and maintaining pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, mechanical power, air compressors, gearboxes, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and mechanical components
- Ability to complete basic electrical maintenance
- Welding experience preferred (MIG and TIG)
- Comprehension and understanding of blueprints, schematics and equipment manuals
- Ability to use precision measuring and alignment tools
- Experience completing and developing preventive maintenance and predictive maintenance
- Results driven, proactive, able to work independently and within a team
- Able to work with minimal supervision and make decisions on equipment repair and use
- Excellent communication skills, able to clearly articulate issues, opportunities and risk
Beneficial Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years maintenance experience. The ideal candidate will have experience in a beverage production facility with an output of at least 15,000 bbls a year.
- Can seaming and processing experience
- Technical certifications preferred
- Knowledge of Siemens or Allen Bradley PLC
- Rigging knowledge preferred
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to ascend/descend stairs and ladders, traverse the tops of structures/equipment and position self to work on equipment at different angles
- Able to lift and transport loads up to 65 pounds
- Maneuver heavy equipment or loads with assistance
