Food Runner

Job Summary

This is an hourly position that requires availability during business hours, which includes weekends and nights for an average of three to four days per week. (Specific work schedule details will be provided to candidates.) Primary job function is delivering food from the kitchen to guests in the dining areas. This is a seasonal position with an expected end date of 09/2022.

Successful applicants for this position must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment.   • Acquires and maintains intimate food knowledge.

  • Acquires and maintains general knowledge of beers and merchandise.

  • Communicates clearly between front of house and back of house staff to complete job tasks successfully.

  • Completes taproom opening and closing procedures specific to job position.

  • Delivers accurate food orders from the kitchen to seated guests.

  • Finds opportunities to deliver great hospitality to our customers and peers.

  • Follows and helps enforce strict Covid protocols.

  • Maintains and promotes a clean and safe working environment.

  • Maintains organization while running food to multiple tables in a large operational space.

  • Maintains positive and energizing relationships with co-workers and lends a hand outside of your job code when able.

  • Reports to work on time and with ample physical and mental energy to perform job duties.

  • Takes initiative and / or enlists the help of peers or managers when applicable to problem solve.

  • Represents Half Acre culture and avoids situations and behaviors that are not reflective of company values in the workplace and out in the world.

  • Understands the value of systems and enjoys being empowered and held accountable.

  • Works effectively as a team with co-workers

Required Skills

  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old

  • Candidate must hold a valid BASSET and City of Chicago Food Server certification (can be obtained once hired with Half Acre assistance).

  • Can work needed hours of operations (includes nights and weekends for some shifts).

  • Demonstrates an ability for customer service.

  • Demonstrates cleanliness in compliance with health and safety regulations for beverage and food service.

  • Desires learning as well as teaching opportunities.

  • Has the ability to relate to people with diverse backgrounds.

  • Enjoys delivering great hospitality.

  • Maintains a clean workspace.

  • Possesses self-awareness and an ability to quickly read situations.

  • Understands the importance of detail orientation in achieving our mission to deliver outstanding hospitality.

Beneficial Experience

  • Previous experience in a restaurant setting preferred, but not required. On the job training will be provided.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift 65lbs and maneuver even heavier kegs (with assistance if needed) and cases of beer

  • Able to work an average of 8 hours on your feet in fast paced environment.
